Kylie Jenner drew some criticism on social media for her Off-White bridal dress and backwards baseball cap veil she wore to last night’s “Gilded Glamour”-themed Met Gala because of how far it strayed from the 1800s-inspired dress code. Butt, Jenner the bridal look was meant to honor the late Off-White designer Virgil Abloh more than play into the night’s theme.
“Virgil and I were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020,” Jenner wrote. “To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me, I’m humbled to wear this dress and honor my talented beautiful friend. We felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever ♾ & thank u to the entire @off____white team !!”
Vogue pointed out that the dress is based off of Off-White’s fall 2022 finale look, which appears in the Met fashion exhibit that the night is celebrated.
Thus, Jenner’s outfit doesn’t represent any veiled relationship status announcement either, even after she and Travis Scott sparked secret marriages rumors in mid-March. Scott did not attend the Met Gala with his partner; Jenner walked with her sister Khloé Kardashian, who wore a gold Moschino dress.
Jenner did post a very rare comment about Scott and their relationship over the weekend for his birthday. “Happy birthday my love my best friend the most special person and father to our babies @travisscott,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.
