Tom Holland goes offline. The Spider-Man: No Way Home star shared a three-minute video on Instagram announcing that he will be deleting the app and Twitter from his devices. Holland explained how social media has become detrimental to his mental state and often makes him miserable when he reads about himself online.
“I took a break from social media for my mental health because I found Instagram and Twitter overly stimulating and overwhelming,” he told his 67.7 million followers.
Having phased out the apps, the artist returned to Instagram to raise awareness for Stem 4, a mental health assistance program that partners with Holland’s own foundation, The Brother’s Trust. The charity includes four apps for people seeking mental health support about depression, anxiety, self-harm, and more.
“Asking and seeking help is not something we should be ashamed of, but it’s easier said than done,” Holland said.
The star did not clarify how long she will be offline or when she plans to return to Instagram and Twitter. While we haven’t yet announced a release date for the recently completed Spiderman movie, we’re guessing it will be online just in time for release.
