Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern devastated the Venice Film Festival because of the globe premiere of Florian Zeller’s “The Son,” which attained a standing ovation that is 10-minute. Jackman appeared visibly moved during the film’s reception, as did the audience. Jackman hugged his co-star that is young Zen amid the ovation. The movie, which centers around a gut-wrenching household tragedy, resulted in audible gasps from watchers during one scene that is dramatic. Based on this reception that is rapturous Zeller may be straight back to get more Oscar glory with “The Son.”
“The Son” focuses on “a family as it falls aside and attempts to return together once again,” according to Sony Pictures Classics’ formal synopsis. Jackman movie stars as a father whoever 17-year-old son involves live he can no longer stay with his mother (Dern) years after his parents ‘divorce with him after deciding. Jackson’s character, Peter, has a partner that is new Vanessa Kirby’s Beth. Peter overextends himself to provide their son an improved life.
Jackman and Dern had been both in attendance during the Venice premiere alongside Vanessa Kirby. Anthony Hopkins – who won an Oscar for their change in Zeller’s final movie, “The Father” – did n’t make all of it how you can Venice, but he’s a spirited cameo within the movie, playing Jackman’s remote yet really father that is outspoken. The duo worked together again to adapt “The Son” into a movie.
For Kirby, “The Son” marked another Venice Film Festival success story after she won the actress prize that is best in 2020 on her performance in “Pieces of a female.” Kirby continued to get an Oscar nomination for actress that is best. Dern has also found success in Venice. Her role in Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Store” first entered the Oscar conversation after the film’s Venice world premiere. Dern would go on to win the Oscar for supporting actress.
“The Son” will open in select New York and Los Angeles theaters on 11 november.
