BART celebrates 50 years with half-off fares, transportation swag, arcades

Later this BART is marking 50 years of hauling millions of Bay Area residents around the region and to celebrate the agency is offering 50% off all fares in September along with a series of events and limited-edition transit swag.

The month discount applies automatically to all riders using a Clipper card. Passengers without a Clipper card can download one for free using Apple Wallet or Google Pay or pay $3 at a station kiosk.

While the 50% off amounts to a roughly $2 to $3 saving off the average BART fare, the promotion also includes trips to San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport, which would save riders from Antioch and San Jose’s Berryessa Station over $7.
